Salary: USD 146,000 - 194,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The Test and Analysis team ensures emerging products are ready for harsh air, land, sea, and space environments, supporting multi-disciplinary product teams across the full lifecycle with requirements analysis, environmental testing, reliability validation, and manufacturing sustainment.
You will join the rapidly growing team as a Senior Thermal Analyst responsible for performing thermal analysis and owning thermal design aspects across hardware development programs. You will execute first-order assessments to guide preliminary design architecture, develop detailed analytical models to mature prototype designs, and generate predictions to support hardware testing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Execute hand calculations, spreadsheet, and MATLAB/Python first-order models to inform design decisions, using first principles and appropriate analysis levels based on hardware state and program goals
- Develop CFD models and simulations to predict temperatures, heat transfer, and fluid characteristics; generate, maintain, and correlate integrated FEMs for imaging platforms
- Perform test-model correlation testing to validate analytical predictions
- Work closely with environmental test engineers to support design, instrumentation selection, execution, and data processing of validation tests
- Prepare technical reports presenting findings to internal teams, management, and external customers
- Stay current with advancements in thermal analysis techniques, materials technology, and industry standards
You will work on new projects from conceptualization through production, developing validated and correlated models to support rapid prototyping of cutting-edge systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- MS or higher degree in engineering or applied physics with focus on heat transfer and fluid dynamics (currently pursuing or obtained)
- 7+ years of experience in thermal analysis or thermo-physics analysis role
- Thermal FEA experience with STAR-CCM+, ANSYS, Icepak, or Flotherm
- Familiarity with MATLAB or Python (or equivalent) for developing analytical models and performing data acquisition & post-processing
- Experience with test-model correlation and test-based characterization of critical modeling input parameters
- Ability to work independently and with various teams and key stakeholders
- Highly motivated, self-starting, results-oriented, capable of working in dynamic environment
- Eligible to obtain and maintain active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- STOP (structural, thermal, optical performance) models for high-performance imaging systems
- Knowledge of climatic and/or dynamic testing, instrumentation, and data acquisition fundamentals
- Experience operating chambers, DAQs, and other major test apparatus
- CAD skills and ability to create high-quality engineering drawings to industry standards
- Experience in immersive interdisciplinary technical projects (collegiate or professional)
- Basic knowledge of MIL-STD-810 or equivalent
