The Senior Test Engineer (Process Development) role is part of the Electrochemical Test team in Berkeley, CA. You will own and develop processes for commissioning and testing large-scale lab batteries, translating laboratory best practices into field-deployable procedures. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, documenting, and optimizing battery testing procedures with focus on safety, efficiency, and data integrity
- Creating comprehensive documentation and training materials to codify institutional knowledge
- Developing automation strategies using Python and proprietary testing software to streamline workflows and improve data acquisition
- Maintaining deep technical understanding of fluid systems, electrical systems, and electrochemistry to inform testing decisions
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineers, technicians, project managers) to support test system deployment and maintenance
- Providing technical support and training to ensure effective adoption of developed processes
You will need a degree in chemical or electrical engineering (or related field) with 4+ years of method development experience. Required skills include proficiency in Python and SQL, hands-on lab expertise, familiarity with electrical and chemical safety protocols, and strong cross-functional collaboration abilities. The role requires comfort in a lab environment and the ability to work with evolving product specifications.
