Branch is a data-driven insurance technology company on a mission to make insurance more accessible through innovation in quoting, bundling, and cost reduction. This Senior Territory Manager role owns a defined state (or set of states) and drives volume and quality of business submitted by independent agencies in that territory.
This is a relationship-first, field-based role where you are the face of Branch to agency principals and producers. You will build trust, drive adoption of Branch's quoting tools, and coach agencies toward writing business aligned with Branch's appetite. The role replaces a remote, digitally delivered model with in-person, field-based engagement—your presence in the territory is the product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the territory by building and segmenting a target agency list, deciding where your time is best spent across your agency base, and setting/iterating on a territory plan
- Carry a production target for bound premium and policy count; maintain pipeline visibility and track against target throughout the period
- Run consistent in-person agency visits, lunch-and-learns, and local events to build face-to-face relationships
- Secure specific production commitments from priority agencies
- Clearly communicate Branch's value proposition, appetite, and differentiators
- Educate agencies on Branch's ideal risk profile to ensure quoted business binds, retains, and performs
- Train agency stakeholders on Branch's quoting platform
- Activate and retain producing agencies; re-engage those that go quiet
- Address objections from agencies and shoppers, repositioning Branch as an ideal choice
- Report competitive intelligence, pricing friction, and product gaps back to inform broader strategy
- Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, Underwriting, and Operations to resolve territory-level barriers
Success is measured by: bound premium and policy count against target; quality of growth (% of ideal customer profile: bundled home and auto with CovA $400k–$1.2m); and % of target agencies actively producing with consistency.
Branch is remote-first with headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, and additional office space in Missouri and Illinois. The company offers above-market salary, pay equity and transparency, flexible time off with $1,000 vacation stipend after year one, employee stock options, medical/vision/dental coverage, and 401(k) matching. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Requirements:
- 5+ years in a quota- or target-carrying field sales role with defined geography or book of business ownership. Independent agency distribution, territory/field sales, SaaS sales, or comparable business development role preferred.
- Demonstrated accountability to a specific production number.
- Experience influencing independent professionals' choices without authority over them.
- Existing relationships with independent agencies in assigned state(s) are helpful.
- Comfort and experience managing a high-travel, self-directed field schedule.
- Strong in-person presentation and group training skills; ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport.
- Consultative selling acumen; ability to diagnose why an agency is/isn't producing and address barriers and opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to learn technical, regulated products well enough to teach them. P&C insurance experience preferred but not required; command of underwriting appetite, rating, and agency workflow expected by end of Q1.
