Salary: USD 120,000 - 137,000 / annual
Chainguard is seeking a Senior Technical Support Engineer to serve as the frontline problem-solver for enterprise customers using Chainguard Images, a hardened, secure, production-ready container image platform trusted by Fortune 500 companies including OpenAI, Snap Inc., and Snowflake.
In this role, you will triage, investigate, and resolve complex technical issues involving container security, DevOps tooling, and software supply-chain security. You'll work directly with customers on real problems involving Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, Helm charts, Terraform, and cloud platforms. Key responsibilities include:
- Frontline triage and investigation of customer issues with Chainguard Images
- Escalation management with the Engineering team for complex or systemic problems
- Clear, professional communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Documentation of issues and creation of Knowledge Base articles
- Proactive queue management and issue prioritization
- Identification and escalation of bugs, feature requests, and product gaps to Engineering and GTM teams
- Participation in on-call rotation for after-hours, weekend, and holiday support
- Cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Customer Success, and other teams
You'll be expected to bridge the gap between customers and engineering, explain complex technical concepts clearly, and help shape how Chainguard delivers world-class support. This is not routine password-reset support—you'll work on substantive technical challenges in a fast-moving startup environment.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of enterprise customer support experience with a calm, confident approach
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in DevOps tools and practices: CI/CD, Linux, GitHub, Helm Charts, Terraform, open-source ecosystems
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP (AWS EKS experience is a plus)
- Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent real-world experience
- Preferred: familiarity with security frameworks, software supply-chain security, or vulnerability scanning
- Preferred: Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, CKS, KCSA)
- Preferred: startup experience
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and work independently
