Scopely seeks a Senior Technical Director to lead the Central Studio Operations (CSO) Release Management and Automation function. This is a high-impact leadership role managing managers and senior individual contributors, responsible for defining organizational standards and "paved roads" that game and central teams adopt across the company. You will own the vision and execution of two critical roadmaps: (1) CSO Release Management capabilities that reduce time-to-submission for cross-platform offers and submissions, and (2) CSO Automation capabilities that enable game team success. Your mandate is to deliver measurable improvements in release quality, delivery velocity, internal solution development, and operational resilience at scale. Key responsibilities include defining Scopely-wide standards for release readiness, risk management, and go/no-go criteria across multiple titles; building lightweight, repeatable governance that improves predictability without slowing teams; establishing and executing development roadmaps for central software solutions; partnering with game technical directors, D2C, and Publishing teams to create industry-leading release management solutions; and leading team rituals, processes, backlog prioritization, and roadmap definition. You will establish operational metrics, drive continuous improvement through learning loops and postmortems, and lead a team of leaders to effectively partner with geographically-distributed stakeholders across Production, Engineering, QA, LiveOps, Security, and Data. Required experience includes game development (preferably Unity), release management across mobile/PC/console platforms, engineering leadership managing managers or multi-team organizations, and building or leading release engineering, developer productivity, or automation programs at scale. You should have a strong technical background in modern delivery practices, demonstrated experience implementing automation and governance in complex multi-team environments, and a track record of influencing senior stakeholders in decentralized organizations. Experience with AI/ML-assisted approaches in engineering workflows is expected or you should demonstrate strong ability to lead this transformation with partners. Bonus qualifications include live-service games or high-availability platform experience, expertise in progressive delivery techniques (feature flags, canaries, blue/green), and familiarity with compliance, security, and privacy requirements in deployment pipelines.
