Karat is the world's largest technical interviewing platform, serving companies like PayPal, Atlassian, and Citi. The Interview Content team designs, writes, tests, and monitors the technical interview questions and scoring rubrics used across Karat's platform, spanning domains from software engineering to data science.
As a Senior Technical Content Development Engineer, you will design and build the most technically demanding interview questions in Karat's portfolio—complex, multi-step engineering scenarios and edge cases that other engineers escalate to you. This is not a traditional software engineering role; you won't be building or maintaining production systems. Instead, you'll write code to construct, test, and validate these problems and their reference solutions at the highest difficulty tier, leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build advanced technical interview content, including complex coding exercises, debugging challenges, and real-world engineering scenarios at the highest difficulty tier
- Write and test interview content across multiple programming languages, taking on the technically hardest problems in the portfolio
- Use AI-assisted development tools (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini Code Assist, etc.) to accelerate content creation while applying advanced engineering judgment
- Lead peer reviews of interview content, providing technical feedback and setting the quality bar for complex material
- Diagnose and resolve issues with underperforming content using performance data, interviewer feedback, and content correction requests
- Partner with Content Architecture on complex format decisions and help raise the technical bar for new content
- Help shape development standards, templates, and documentation for the team, with particular focus on difficulty calibration
You bring 4+ years of professional software engineering experience (post-academic, post-internship) with demonstrated work on complex systems or technically demanding problems. You have strong software engineering fundamentals including debugging, testing, and code review, with experience providing technical feedback to other engineers. You're proficient with AI-assisted development tools and have strong written and verbal English communication skills. You have experience working remotely on global, distributed teams and can maintain availability during US business hours.
Note: This position requires a schedule that overlaps with U.S. business hours and is currently available only to candidates residing in Bengaluru, India.
