Intuit's Mailchimp Delivery team is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to own the design, operation, and scaling of the infrastructure that sends millions of emails daily at massive scale. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role with no direct reports. You will be responsible for the end-to-end health of the sending fleet, including the in-house Postfix-based MTA (NeoMTA), the PHP server-agent service (MCMTA), and AWS-hosted infrastructure. Your scope spans Linux hosts, MTA software, deployment pipelines, autoscaling, monitoring, and AWS environments. Key responsibilities include: **Systems & Infrastructure Engineering**: Design and operate AWS cloud infrastructure managing the sending fleet across environments. Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet) to provision and maintain scalable, secure server and network environments. Design system architecture across the sending path including networking, load balancing, and security. Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and release automation (Jenkins, Artifactory, RPM packaging, Kubernetes/ArgoCD). Configure and tune containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and MTA software parameters to manage throughput and delivery behavior. **Operational Excellence**: Participate in on-call rotation to handle Delivery-related operational issues. Monitor production systems for performance, availability, and security using BigQuery, OpenSearch, and Splunk. Respond to fleet, host, and delivery incidents spanning MTA software, hosts, AWS, and networking. Write automation tooling to streamline provisioning, configuration, and operational processes. Own delivery of major platform features and projects. **Platform Health & Deliverability**: Review code and configuration changes for infrastructure impact. Build tooling tracking sending health, IP and domain reputation. Apply knowledge of email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, feedback loops, bounce handling) to maintain platform configuration and deliverability. **Collaboration**: Partner with Senior/Staff Engineers and Product Managers on infrastructure and reliability requirements. Improve deployment methods, monitoring, and automation practices. Leverage AI and agent tooling to move faster while maintaining quality. Mentor teammates and document systems and runbooks. Ideal candidates are self-directed, comfortable in production environments and on the command line, understand systems and fleet reliability, and have working knowledge of email deliverability fundamentals. Experience with mature, high-throughput platforms and AI-native working practices is valued.
