Graphcore, a SoftBank Group company and leader in AI compute infrastructure, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the bring-up, validation, and operational reliability of its Arm-based AI hardware platforms. This role bridges hardware engineering and data center operations, focusing on advanced troubleshooting and validation of complex AI compute systems including server blades, racks, and rack-scale infrastructure.
You will lead break-fix troubleshooting for server hardware, diagnose system-level failures involving thermal behavior, power anomalies, network configuration, and BIOS/BMC issues, and collaborate with server engineering teams on root cause analysis and design improvements. Key responsibilities include supporting engineering bring-up activities, component validation, firmware interaction testing, and deployment of next-generation hardware platforms through structured validation cycles.
You will interface with facilities and infrastructure teams to understand environmental factors impacting reliability, develop and maintain standard operating procedures and troubleshooting guides, and provide mentorship to junior technicians on hardware diagnostics methodologies. The role includes participation in on-call rotations during critical engineering milestones and hardware bring-up phases.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; 7+ years experience with server hardware architectures and board-level debugging; hands-on experience analyzing system logs, hardware telemetry, and power/thermal metrics; experience with HPC systems, AI compute platforms, or rack-scale infrastructure; strong collaboration and communication skills.
Desirable: prototype or pre-production hardware bring-up experience; familiarity with data center facilities including liquid cooling and power distribution; Python, Bash, or automation tools for hardware validation; structured failure analysis and reliability engineering methodologies.
