Atom Computing is building quantum computers using arrays of optically trapped neutral atoms. The company seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as a technical integrator and architect across Research and Product Development programs. In this role, you will own system definition, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and risk management activities that bridge quantum theory, applications, quantum engineering, control systems, optical engineering, software, and hardware disciplines. You will gather, integrate, and track requirements, risks, and timelines for future generations of Atom Computing systems. Key responsibilities include: - Translating theoretical and experimental requirements into coherent system architectures - Applying systems engineering best practices to emerging quantum computing technologies - Leading cross-functional technical integration across multiple engineering disciplines - Managing system-level risks and dependencies - Developing and maintaining system models and documentation - Collaborating with scientists, engineers, and product teams to advance quantum computing capabilities The ideal candidate has deep experience in systems engineering for complex, emerging technologies, with the ability to work across hardware, software, control systems, and optical engineering domains. Strong technical foundation in quantum physics or quantum engineering is valuable. You should be comfortable with ambiguity, capable of translating between theoretical research and practical engineering constraints, and skilled at managing technical complexity across multiple disciplines.
