Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the transition of a Ladar (Light Detection and Ranging) imaging product from the Engineering Development Unit (EDU) phase through Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) and into high-rate production. You will play a pivotal role in scaling build capacity to tens of units per month, bridging the gap between design and manufacturing while leading rigorous testing campaigns to mature hardware and software systems to high Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) ahead of Critical Design Review (CDR) and Manufacturing Readiness Review (MRR).
Key responsibilities include:
• Oversee deployment and testing of EDU builds to support field testing and demonstrate system capability and performance.
• Design and execute comprehensive Design Verification Testing (DVT) campaigns for environmental testing and system qualification.
• Author technical documentation, define verification matrices, and lead systems-level preparation for CDR and MRR milestones.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and hardware teams to implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles and scale production from a few units per year to ~10s of systems per month.
• Architect, design, and ruggedize manufacturing test equipment for efficiency, throughput, and reliability on the production floor.
• Work with software and firmware teams to implement robust test automation and push UI and background software toward product-level maturity.
• Develop and validate physics-based models of sensor system performance; derive requirements based on those models and validate against laboratory and real-world data.
• Support both laboratory-based and field-based experiments and demonstrations.
The Anduril Imaging team develops state-of-the-art imaging systems across hardware and software, leveraging computer vision, perception, electro-optical, infrared, and sensor data technologies to provide warfighters and allies with advanced capabilities.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 5+ years of hardware-centric systems engineering experience with Electro-Optical (EO) systems, Ladar/Lidar, or high-precision pointing systems.
• Direct experience transitioning complex, multidisciplinary systems from low TRL to high TRL / production-ready status.
• Strong familiarity with DVT campaigns, environmental testing standards, and field testing operations.
• Practical knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), test equipment ruggedization, and test process optimization/automation.
• Experience leading or heavily contributing to systems engineering reviews such as CDR, MRR, or PRR.
• Outstanding ability to communicate across multidisciplinary teams (optical, mechanical, electrical, firmware, software, and manufacturing).
• Advanced proficiency in analytical toolchains/languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
• Strong laboratory skills, including design of experiments.
• Willingness to travel to test sites.
• Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with software/hardware integration, specifically defining software interfaces, UI productization, and background software requirements.
• Experience with software/firmware automated test frameworks.
• Knowledge of current and next-generation advanced sensing systems and platforms.
