Salary: EUR 66,000 - 91,000 / annual
Cloudflare is seeking a Senior System Engineer to join its Network Engineering Team in Lisbon. The role focuses on building and operating infrastructure that powers Cloudflare's global network spanning 190+ data centers worldwide.
You will work on network automation, infrastructure tools, and services designed to improve network resilience and reduce operational toil. The position emphasizes elegant, efficient problem-solving with practical, maintainable, and scalable solutions. You'll leverage AI tools and automated assistants to streamline workflows and accelerate delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing network automation solutions
- Building infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipeline automation
- Working with distributed systems, modern Linux internals, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Implementing observability and telemetry solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, distributed tracing)
- Designing reliable, fault-tolerant distributed systems
- Collaborating with AI assistants and automated tools to augment task execution
Required qualifications:
- 6+ years of SRE, DevOps, or Software Engineering experience
- BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- Deep understanding of Linux internals and containerization
- Proficiency in Python or Golang
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and CI/CD automation
- Hands-on experience with observability platforms
- Proven track record in distributed systems design
Bonus qualifications include networking engineering knowledge (Layer 2/3 protocols, gRPC/gNMI, NETCONF), configuration management frameworks (Ansible, Chef, Saltstack), and experience managing customer requirements.
