Apple's Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization is seeking a Senior Swift Software Engineer to join the Employee Engagement & Engineering team within Employee Experience and Productivity (EEP). This is a high-impact technical leadership role focused on building enterprise and customer technology systems that power Apple's global operations.
You will collaborate with a small, global team to define technical strategy for native applications across Apple platforms. Your responsibilities include:
- Define and drive the technical strategy and multi-year architecture roadmap for the native application platform
- Lead the design and delivery of critical, high-quality cross-platform applications serving Apple employees globally
- Provide technical leadership across the full engineering lifecycle
- Identify systemic engineering challenges and drive team-wide improvements in quality, reliability, accessibility, and developer productivity
- Shape how AI and platform interoperability are leveraged across the application portfolio, establishing patterns and best practices
- Serve as a technical authority in cross-functional design reviews, architecture forums, and strategic planning
- Mentor and develop engineers at all levels, accelerating their growth and broadening technical impact
- Champion engineering excellence, accessibility, and inclusive design
- Drive adoption of emerging Apple platform capabilities and AI technologies
- Engage with leadership to communicate technical vision, manage risk, and shape investment priorities
- Lead hiring efforts for engineering roles and define technical criteria
The role sits within IS&T, which supports 2.5 billion active Apple devices, processes billions of secure transactions, and maintains the technology infrastructure that defines modern life. EEP delivers widely-used communication and productivity technology across Apple, from collaboration tools to support systems and original content studios.
You will influence how the platform evolves and how applications are experienced by thousands of Apple employees worldwide, working on durable, reliable systems designed to last with long-term vision.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- Exceptional depth in Swift, SwiftUI, and Apple architecture across all platforms (not iOS-only)
- Demonstrated ability to define and drive technical strategy across multiple application domains
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience, including setting technical direction, resolving cross-system architectural challenges, and influencing engineering practices at a team or organizational level
- Deep understanding of user experience quality and ability to set the bar for how applications should feel
Preferred:
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience with AI integration patterns and platform interoperability at an architectural level
- History of driving technical innovation with broad adoption across a team or organization
- Experience shaping engineering culture around quality, inclusion, and technical growth
- Deep familiarity with Apple's AI frameworks (Core ML, Foundation Models, MLX) and system integration capabilities (App Intents, extensions)
- Record of successful cross-functional influence at a senior level
- Experience with globally distributed teams and asynchronous collaboration at scale
