Helsing is a defence AI company focused on protecting democracies through technological leadership and ethical AI development. As a Senior Studio Design Engineer, you will be responsible for sketching, modeling, building, and testing multi-domain defence systems spanning aerospace, drones, land platforms, and robotics. Your role bridges the gap between concept and production, taking designs from sprint kickoff through validation to serial manufacturing. You will work closely with campaign teams, engineering teams, the design studio, and customers to ensure every decision reflects real operational needs and manufacturing feasibility. A key part of your responsibility is improving team processes and maintaining design data integrity across the organization. Day-to-day responsibilities include: - Creating and refining CAD models and prototypes using Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or CATIA V5, moving rapidly from concept to testable hardware within sprint cycles - Validating designs against manufacturing, performance, and cost constraints, iterating toward serial production-ready specifications - Serving as a connector between campaign teams, engineering, design studio, and customers—translating requirements into clear design decisions and documented trade-offs - Managing design data, release records, and change management to ensure all teams work from a single source of truth - Guiding colleagues through concept, kickoff, and production phases; refining products post-launch based on build, test, and field feedback You will work in an environment that values ethical debate, responsible autonomy, and outcome-focused engineering. Helsing has already secured multiple significant government contracts and operates at the cutting edge of defence technology innovation. Compensation and benefits include competitive salary, VSOP options, relocation support (up to €2,500 and 4 weeks temporary accommodation), €500 yearly learning allowance, gym membership and mental health support, enhanced parental leave (22 weeks for primary caregivers, 6 weeks for secondary), and a structured onboarding program. REQUIREMENTS: - Demonstrated experience designing, building, and delivering hardware products from concept through serial production (portfolio/examples required) - Proficiency in Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or CATIA V5 for production-ready models and drawings - Hands-on manufacturing knowledge and ability to apply it to design optimization for cost, quality, and speed - Experience building and testing physical prototypes; commitment to intuitive, complete user experience design - Project management capability from start to finish with ability to present design decisions clearly to engineers and customers NICE TO HAVE: - Experience with simulation tools for design testing and validation planning - Fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud and AI-assisted design toolkits for concept visualization
