Relativity Space is building rockets and advanced manufacturing systems to serve today's space launch needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. The Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, and the company is establishing an Interplanetary Sciences Program to expand access to scientific exploration across the solar system.
As a Senior Structures Engineer within the Interplanetary Sciences Program, you will own the complete lifecycle of spacecraft structures—from concept and architecture through design, analysis, build, testing, and flight qualification. You will be directly responsible for delivering flight-ready hardware that meets mission performance, reliability, and cost objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead design, analysis, and development of primary and secondary spacecraft structures from concept through flight
- Perform structural and dynamic analysis (FEA, hand calculations, margin analysis) to validate designs across all mission phases
- Conduct trade studies and architecture assessments to optimize performance and manufacturability
- Oversee prototype development, testing, and qualification activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (propulsion, avionics, mission design, manufacturing) to integrate structures into broader vehicle architecture
- Develop and maintain structural specifications, analysis reports, and verification documentation
- Drive continuous improvement in design processes and manufacturing techniques
