Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer to join their Structural Analysis team in Costa Mesa, California. This role is central to ensuring product integrity and performance across Anduril's defense technology portfolio, which includes autonomous systems, AI-powered command and control platforms, and advanced military hardware spanning sea, ground, air, and space domains.
In this position, you will perform static and dynamic structural analyses using first principles and advanced methods including hand calculations, finite element analysis (FEA), and custom scripts. You will develop and own finite element models (FEM) at both global and subsystem levels, collaborating closely with hardware engineers to drive design improvements based on analytical findings. Your responsibilities include conducting and supporting validation testing—from instrumentation setup through data collection and model correlation—and documenting analysis methodology and results in technical reports for internal teams and external stakeholders.
You will ensure all designs meet customer requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations while staying current with advancements in analysis techniques and materials technology. The role requires deep expertise in statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and materials properties, with proficiency in FEA software (NASTRAN/Abaqus preferred) and CAD tools (NX, Solidworks). You should be highly motivated, self-starting, and capable of performing duties autonomously while establishing scope and requirements for ill-defined problems.
Required qualifications include a BS or higher degree in engineering or applied physics with a structures focus, proficiency in Matlab or Python for analytical modeling and automation, and the ability to work independently. Preferred qualifications include 8+ years of experience in structures, dynamics, or loads roles with high ownership of hardware outcomes, an MS or higher degree in structures, ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance, and experience developing workflow automation tools.
