CoreWeave is seeking a Senior Storage Engineer II to design, build, and operate highly scalable multi-tenant file and block storage systems at the core of its AI infrastructure platform. The role focuses on developing the data path and control plane for both file (NFS) and block storage services, running natively on CoreWeave's storage fleet and delivered through Kubernetes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own the file system data path, ensuring NFS reliability, IO resilience, and performance for IOPS-heavy AI pipelines and GPU-intensive workloads
- Build a native block storage service delivering durable, high-performance volumes for customer workloads and internal stateful services
- Design and ship a backend-neutral CSI driver with dynamic provisioning, resize, snapshots, and RWO block volumes, backed by public SLOs
- Develop the control plane for multi-tenant isolation, quota, QoS, snapshots, key management (BYOK), audit, and lifecycle policies to support regulated and enterprise customers
- Improve reliability, durability, and observability of the storage stack through telemetry, metrics, and dashboards
- Work cross-functionally with platform, product, and infrastructure teams to deliver seamless storage across the stack, including tiering cold data to object storage
- Mentor other engineers on best practices in distributed, high-performance systems
- Work with advanced technologies including RDMA, GPU Direct Storage, RoCE, InfiniBand, SPDK, and distributed filesystems
Required qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field; 6–10 years building storage systems, distributed systems, or infrastructure services; strong hands-on production experience with distributed/networked file systems and block storage (NFS/POSIX semantics, block volumes, durability, snapshots, replication); depth in storage data path (IO performance, caching, metadata-heavy workloads, crash consistency); experience with multi-tenant services and storage control planes.
