Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Stage Fluids Engineer to join the Neutron team, responsible for designing, building, testing, and reviewing fluid systems across the Neutron large launch vehicle. This role owns all plumbing and systems between the tanks and engines, turning vehicle-level requirements into a fluid network that enables aircraft-like reusability and reliability. Key responsibilities include: designing plumbing systems, components, and secondary structures while providing peer feedback on designs and methodology; analyzing systems in the harsh dynamic environments of launch and reviewing critical structural analysis; modeling systems to characterize and predict behavior across all conditions; testing and qualifying systems, components, and modules; managing requirements and implementation within the larger vehicle context; integrating hardware into the vehicle; reviewing test data to optimize future designs; collaborating with propulsion, structures, mechanical, operations, and flight software teams; creating tools to enhance analysis capabilities and streamline workflows; setting standards for design, production, and testing processes; and mentoring peers to strengthen the team. The position is available at Senior I (5+ years hardware experience) or Senior II (8+ years hardware experience) levels. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline, experience with fluid components design (valves, pressure vessels, flex elements, fittings), and expertise in DfM/DfAM, machining, welding, mechanical drafting, and GD&T. Preferred qualifications include aerospace environment experience, understanding of aerospace design constraints (mass minimization, manufacturability, function, cost), experience with cryogenic/oxygen/methane systems, Siemens NX and Teamcenter proficiency, aerospace standards (AS9100, JIRA), and demonstrated ability to lead teams in fast-paced environments with limited information.
