Capella, an IonQ company focused on national security, advanced sensing, and next-generation compute, is seeking a Senior Staff Structural Analyst to lead the advancement of structural analysis capabilities for space systems. This role involves refining and standardizing FEA (Finite Element Analysis) modeling and analysis tools that support the design, development, and qualification of hardware for space applications. The successful candidate will develop standardized analysis approaches with comprehensive documentation, create detailed analysis procedures, and mentor engineering teams on best practices in structural analysis.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advancing Capella's FEA modeling and analysis capabilities through development of standardized methodologies
- Creating and maintaining detailed analysis documentation and procedures
- Developing analysis tools and workflows to support spacecraft design and qualification
- Mentoring and guiding engineering teams on structural analysis best practices
- Collaborating with design, systems, and test teams to ensure analysis supports mission-critical hardware
- Contributing to technical strategy for structural analysis across the organization
The role is based onsite at either the Louisville, CO or San Francisco, CA office, with up to 10% domestic or international travel. This is a technical leadership position for an experienced structural engineer who can establish best practices and drive technical excellence across the organization without necessarily managing a large team. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in spacecraft structural analysis, FEA tools, and a track record of developing standardized engineering processes.
