Zocdoc is a healthcare marketplace that empowers patients by making it easy to find and book in-person or virtual care across all 50 states, 200+ specialties, and 12,000 insurance plans. As a Senior Staff Software Engineer in the Interoperability group, you will lead the technical strategy for Zocdoc's integrations with 170+ EHR systems.
Your core responsibilities include: taking ultimate technical ownership of the interoperability platform; designing and leading a major rearchitecture to move from eventually-consistent syncs to real-time, fail-fast integration patterns; developing clear abstractions that hide EHR-specific complexity and expose clean, consistent capabilities to product teams; and mentoring engineers while establishing best practices across the integration stack.
The role is hands-on: you will ship production code in C#, AWS technologies, and React alongside your team, not just architect from the whiteboard. You'll partner with senior product, engineering, and business leaders to define strategic priorities and influence architectural decisions across multiple teams. You'll analyze complex product challenges, drive sound design decisions, and work to scale solutions for Zocdoc's largest and most complex customers.
The interoperability platform is at an inflection point. New product lines require tighter integrations, and EHR systems hold valuable untapped data—insurance credentialing, provider onboarding signals, patient LTV, and more. You will shape both the technical strategy and contribute to the product vision for how Zocdoc leverages this data.
