As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, Backend, you will lead multi-team technical initiatives and establish engineering best practices across the organization. This is a high-impact role balancing hands-on technical work with strategic leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead multi-team initiatives, ensuring alignment, quality, and long-term maintainability across backend infrastructure
- Mentor and guide experienced engineers on both technical and cultural development
- Establish and promote engineering best practices that transcend immediate team boundaries
- Influence product priorities and scope through technical expertise and strategic input
- Own system quality and drive project delivery by aligning cross-functional stakeholders
- Communicate complex technical decisions clearly, weighing trade-offs
- Stay current with industry trends and ensure the team uses best-in-class tools
- Participate in recruitment and candidate interviews
- Balance hands-on technical guidance with strategic leadership
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 10+ years of professional experience with Scala, Java, or Go
- Deep experience with scalable, highly available, real-time distributed systems
- Proficiency with relational and non-relational databases
- Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Proven mentoring and leadership skills
- Excellent English communication skills
- Ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments
- Experience with security best practices
Desirable experience includes data engineering collaboration, highly available systems, performance tuning, security hardening, GDPR compliance, and tech strategy creation.
