Salary: USD 240,800 - 361,200 / annual

Carbon is a 3D printing company working at the intersection of hardware, software, and molecular science. They enable commercial customers to move beyond prototyping to produce real-world products with unmatched reliability, speed, and quality. You will architect and safeguard mission-critical ecosystems, leading the design of high-impact web applications while serving as the primary steward for Tier-0 services including Fleet Management, Auth, and Core APIs. You'll ensure foundational services powering the global printer network remain resilient and highly available as the company innovates. Key responsibilities include engineering scalable web infrastructure by leading the evolution of front-end infrastructure and cloud platform using Google Cloud Platform and scalable database architectures. You'll build a seamless "Web-to-Edge" bridge to handle data demands of next-generation additive manufacturing. You will drive deep technical excellence in React and modern front-end architecture, building complex, data-heavy control systems requiring sophisticated state management and high-performance rendering. You'll take full ownership of major initiatives from whiteboarding to production, serving as a key voice in defining long-term architectural roadmap and selecting technologies to scale systems 10x beyond current capacity. You will act as a technical anchor for a diverse team of engineers and product managers, translating customer needs into robust software designs while elevating the team through rigorous design reviews, architectural advocacy, and hands-on mentorship. Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering (or equivalent); 12+ years of relevant experience; expert knowledge in modern programming languages (Node, TypeScript, C++, Go, Python, Java); expertise with large-scale distributed systems and data pipelines; strong API design and scaling experience; excellent communication, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
