Tide is a fintech platform serving over 2 million SMEs globally with business banking and administrative solutions (invoicing, accounting, etc.). The company has raised over $300M and operates across the UK, India, Germany, France, and Central/Eastern Europe with 2,800+ employees.
You will lead the architecture of Tide's agentic AI platform, defining shared capabilities that enable AI systems to operate safely, reliably, and at scale. This is a Staff-level individual contributor role focused on platform design and technical leadership across teams.
Key responsibilities:
- Define the overall architecture for the agentic platform
- Design shared services: context APIs, tool layers, policy controls, auditability
- Partner with product, data, security, and engineering teams to translate use cases into reusable platform capabilities
- Set standards for reliability, safety, scalability, and developer experience
- Provide technical leadership and unblock critical cross-team decisions
- Implement cost-management and LLM provider routing logic to optimize spend
- Design and build automated evaluation pipelines for agent reasoning accuracy and safety
Required experience:
- Deep background building platform or infrastructure systems at scale
- Strong judgment across APIs, distributed systems, data, and cloud-native architecture
- Track record leading complex cross-team technical problems
- Experience integrating third-party platforms while maintaining core architecture control
- Strong understanding of reliability, security, and observability
Desirable:
- AI platform component experience
- Background in regulated industries (fintech, healthtech) where safety and compliance are core
Tech stack: Java, Spring Boot, JOOQ, event-driven architecture (SNS/SQS, Kafka), MySQL/PostgreSQL, AWS (Docker, Terraform, EKS), DataDog, Rollbar, GitHub CI/CD, Angular/Flutter frontend, Snowflake/Looker BI, Python ML stack.
