Salary: CAD 234,000 - 275,000 / annual
Robinhood is seeking a Senior Staff Software Developer to lead the Developer Infrastructure organization, which powers the entire engineering organization's build, test, and deployment systems. This role serves as the technical driver unifying four major teams: DevX (Developer Experience), TestX (Test Infrastructure), Backend Platform, and Mobile Platform.
You will own the technical direction and roadmap for the entire Developer Infrastructure org, acting as the Uber Tech Lead across all four teams. Your primary focus will be on DevX, where you'll own Robinhood's Bazel-based monorepo build infrastructure, including the remote build execution cluster and language-agnostic build optimization across Python, Go, TypeScript, and more. You'll ensure fast, stable feedback loops for the entire engineering organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and evolving Robinhood's Bazel-based monorepo build infrastructure and remote build execution cluster
- Scaling CI/CD pipelines to support thousands of daily builds with speed, safety, and reliability
- Driving the vision for TestX, including integration test environments and personal development environments that simulate the full Robinhood system
- Championing the integration of AI and agentic systems across the software development lifecycle to multiply developer velocity
- Setting technical standards across Backend Platform and Mobile Platform for core language runtimes, libraries, IDE tooling, and developer environment security
- Partnering with engineering leadership to define and execute a long-term developer infrastructure roadmap
The role is based in the Toronto office with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. You will work with a high-performing, fast-moving team focused on applying frontier technologies to financial problems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated track record at Senior Staff, Principal, or Distinguished Engineer level
- Deep expertise with Bazel and large-scale monorepo build systems, including remote build execution infrastructure at scale
- Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines at massive scale across thousands of daily builds, multiple programming languages, and complex pre-merge pipeline logic
- Fluency in Go and/or Python; broad familiarity with TypeScript, Swift, or Android development environments is a strong signal
- Strong background with distributed systems, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
- Experience with test infrastructure, integration test environments, or developer environment platforms
- Genuine interest in or hands-on experience with agentic AI systems, automated code review, or AI-driven developer velocity programs
- Exceptional technical leadership, communication, and influence skills with ability to unify cross-functional engineering teams
- Track record of mentoring senior engineers and elevating the technical bar across large, diverse engineering organizations
