As a Senior Staff Orchestration Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of IonQ's Hosted Hybrid Service, which seamlessly integrates quantum and classical computation in cloud datacenters. This is a high-impact technical leadership role where you'll define the execution model for hybrid quantum-classical workloads, determining how customers write, extend, and run production workloads combining QPUs, CPUs, and GPUs. Key responsibilities include: - Leading the design and delivery of the Hosted Hybrid Service in partnership with product management - Defining the execution model for hybrid workloads, including how quantum-classical jobs are specified and extended - Driving infrastructure strategy for classical compute (both HPC and general-purpose) backing hybrid jobs, partnering with the cloud infrastructure team - Building and maintaining a library of reusable quantum workloads for customers and internal teams - Establishing best practices for code development, QA, documentation, CI/CD, and deployment - Collaborating across HPC, Cloud, and Product teams while communicating with executive leadership - Mentoring junior staff members and building a team around this role You'll need 10+ years of software engineering experience, demonstrated technical leadership with the ability to deliver in dynamic environments, and experience designing and operating cloud-hosted services or APIs that external customers depend on. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT is preferred, though untraditional backgrounds are welcome. The role is based in Bothell, WA with the option to work remotely a few days per week. Travel is up to 10% (domestic and international).
