Amperesand is reinventing power infrastructure for a new era of energy abundance. The company develops intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products based on advanced medium voltage Solid State Transformer technology, addressing the massive gap between skyrocketing electricity demand (driven by AI, EVs, and industrial growth) and century-old power infrastructure systems.
As Senior Staff Mechanical Design Engineer, you will own mechanical architecture and design strategy across multiple power converter platforms and voltage classes. This is a principal technical role where you serve as the technical authority and escalation point for Staff and Senior mechanical engineers on the organization's most challenging design problems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning mechanical architecture and design strategy across power converter platforms
- Designing custom mechanical parts for power converter modules and system-level designs
- Serving as technical authority and escalation point for complex mechanical design challenges
- Working closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, test engineering, quality, and new product introduction (NPI)
- Acting as primary design point of contact to support and guide teams implementing your designs
- Providing technical leadership and mentorship to mechanical engineering staff
The role is based in San Francisco or Reno, with the company operating global hubs including Singapore. You'll be part of a team of breakthrough energy hardware veterans focused on building foundational technology for power infrastructure at scale.
