CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Staff Embedded Software Engineer to join its software team developing communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. The Skylark product line focuses on rapid design, build, and test of cutting-edge active phased array antennas (AESA) for terrestrial and airborne applications, spanning high-power ground terminals for missile defense to commercial airline and helicopter connectivity solutions.
In this role, you will own low-level and high-level software across Cesium's products through all development phases. Key projects involve Linux-based single-board computers and high-reliability microcontroller systems. You will be responsible for complete software designs from concept through production, including product roadmaps, block diagrams, detailed design and coding, analysis, test, qualification, and in-orbit support.
The ideal candidate brings development experience across nearly every level of the software stack: microcontrollers, low-level drivers, board support packages (BSP), end-use applications, and user interfaces. You should have proven expertise in software testing, high-reliability qualification, software engineering practices, and software project management. This is a hands-on technical role with significant scope—you will present engineering design review materials to customers and the executive team, participate in proposal-writing efforts, and guide the technical direction of critical systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. This position requires U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status due to space technology export regulations.
