CesiumAstro is seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer II to lead full-stack hardware development for complex modules and systems serving satellites, spacecraft, UAVs, and aerospace platforms. In this role, you will own the complete engineering lifecycle—from concept development through detailed design, analysis, PCB layout, build, test, and delivery—with hands-on involvement at each phase.
As a Principal-level engineer, you will provide technical leadership on critical designs, mentor teams of engineers developing new products, and drive innovation in leading-edge electronics for high-reliability space and airborne applications. You will be responsible for ensuring designs meet stringent technical rigor requirements while maintaining the agility and speed expected in a startup environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing complex hardware systems and modules from concept to production
- Conducting detailed electrical design, analysis, and PCB layout
- Leading design reviews and presenting engineering materials to customers and executive leadership
- Mentoring and guiding engineering teams on technical challenges
- Ensuring compliance with space and aerospace reliability standards
- Collaborating cross-functionally in a dynamic startup setting
