CesiumAstro is seeking a Principal Component Engineer II to lead critical electronics engineering efforts for satellite, spacecraft, and aerospace systems. In this role, you will own parts and component selection, qualification, failure root-cause analysis, standardization, vendor evaluations, and performance verification for commercial space applications. You will be a key technical leader within the product development team, driving decisions that impact system reliability and performance across multiple platforms including satellites, UAVs, and launch vehicles.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in EEE (Electrical, Electronics, and Electromechanical) components engineering specifically for commercial space applications. You will work in a dynamic, cross-functional startup environment where hands-on technical work is valued alongside strategic leadership. Your responsibilities will include evaluating emerging technologies, managing vendor relationships, conducting rigorous qualification testing, and establishing component standards that scale across the organization.
This is a high-impact individual contributor role with clear pathways to expand into broader technical leadership or functional management as the company grows. You will have autonomy to shape engineering processes and standards, mentor junior engineers, and directly influence product quality and mission success. The role requires U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status due to space technology export regulations.
