Salary: USD 116,340 - 145,390 / annual
Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering empirical earth data via a cloud-based platform to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. This is a pre-sales solutions architect role focused on the US Defense and Intelligence community.
You will design complex solutions demonstrating the value of Planet's data and services to help defense and intelligence organizations overcome earth data challenges. You'll act as a trusted technical advisor, collaborating with cross-functional teams including Customer Success, Product Management, and Business Development to understand customer needs and shape account strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect and deliver solution demonstrations and presentations highlighting Planet's technical capabilities and value proposition
- Build relationships with customers' technical and management staff as a trusted advisor
- Recommend solutions architecture that addresses customer business challenges
- Craft technical responses to tenders, RFIs, RFPs, and unsolicited proposals
- Partner with sales colleagues to architect and drive technical strategy across customer and prospect accounts
- Collaborate with internal teams to act as the voice of the customer in RFP/RFI preparation
- Attain quarterly and annual sales and operational objectives
- Represent Defense and Intelligence customer needs to Sales leadership through forecasts, pipeline opportunities, deal reviews, and customer feedback
- Present to key executive Government stakeholders within the US Federal Government
- Mentor team members and lead training to drive their development
This is a full-time hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the Arlington, VA office with up to 25% travel, including international travel. The role requires obtaining and maintaining eligibility for a US Government TS/SCI security clearance and access to export-controlled information.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of experience supporting the US Defense and Intelligence community in a technical capacity
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Ability to travel up to 25%, including internationally
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working with GIS and Remote Sensing users within the Defense industry
- Experience in IMINT (Imagery Intelligence), ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance), and related fields
- Proficiency with QGIS, SocetGXP, ArcGIS, GDAL, Python, and other common geospatial software packages and programming languages
- Familiarity with emerging technologies such as AI/ML
- Experience designing and presenting complex systems and solutions that bridge business problems and technology to meet organizational goals, budget, and scalability needs
- Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent problem-solving skills and proactive working style
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Ability to process imagery, manipulate geospatial data, interact with APIs, and build data pipelines
- Ability to lead technical customer engagements
- Ability to run workshops or training sessions with users
- Must obtain and maintain eligibility for US Government TS/SCI security clearance
