Salary: USD 159,390 - 189,390 / annual
Berkshire Grey is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop motion planning software for robotic manipulation systems in packing applications. This role focuses on designing and optimizing scalable solutions for high-efficiency packing scenarios in real-world deployments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and improving motion planning software optimized for packing and spatial arrangement of diverse object geometries
- Developing robust solutions for constrained packing scenarios with collision avoidance and density optimization
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to address operational efficiency challenges
- Debugging, testing, and verifying software on physical robotic systems in dynamic environments
- Staying current with advancements in motion planning, perception, and robotics, evaluating applicability to company challenges
- Participating in code reviews and technical discussions to ensure solution quality
The role requires a master's degree in computer vision, robotics, computer engineering, or related field with 2+ years of robotics/automation software development experience, OR a bachelor's degree with 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in the same domain.
Required technical skills include:
- 2+ years developing and debugging real-world robotic systems
- 2+ years with Python and C++
- 2+ years in Linux-based development environments
- 1+ year adapting motion planning algorithms to 6-DoF industrial robotic arms
- 1+ year with ROS, OpenRAVE, MoveIt, or equivalent robotic frameworks
Telecommuting is available for candidates based in the Bedford, MA region, with regular office visits required. At least 5% domestic travel annually.
