Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications. With over 50 million users relying on Speechify's text-to-speech products, this role offers significant impact on a platform used globally.
You will own the full lifecycle of Windows features—from conception through design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance. Key responsibilities include:
• Lead design and architecture of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed
• Define and enforce best practices for Windows development: code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability
• Drive accessibility efforts by integrating and validating Windows accessibility APIs, ensuring UI controls, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and usability for users with disabilities
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems
• Mentor other engineers, conduct code reviews, and make architecture-level decisions
Required qualifications include 3+ years of Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML; deep understanding of Windows application architecture and interop between managed and native code; proven track record shipping production-quality desktop applications; strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs; excellent software engineering fundamentals; and demonstrated ability to lead technical design and mentor engineers.
Preferred experience includes automated UI testing, performance optimization for desktop apps, localization/internationalization, telemetry and crash reporting, CI/CD workflows for desktop applications, and long-term ownership of feature areas.
