Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications. With over 50 million users relying on Speechify's text-to-speech products, this role offers high impact and technical ownership.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading design and architecture of Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed
- Defining and enforcing best practices for Windows development: code architecture, performance, memory management, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability
- Driving accessibility efforts by integrating Microsoft UI Automation and related frameworks, ensuring keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and inclusive design for users with disabilities
- Collaborating with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders on feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and long-term Windows platform roadmap
- Owning the full feature lifecycle from conception through design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance
- Identifying and resolving complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems
Required qualifications:
- 3+ years of Windows desktop application development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML; ideally with native Windows code experience (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM)
- Deep understanding of Windows application architecture and interop between managed (.NET) and native code
- Proven track record shipping production-quality desktop applications emphasizing reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability
- Strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs and commitment to building accessible software
- Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading
- Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- User-centric mindset focused on polished, intuitive, accessible experiences
Preferred experience includes automated UI testing, performance optimization, localization/globalization, telemetry and analytics, CI/CD workflows for desktop apps, and long-term feature ownership with technical debt management.
