With ~200 employees globally in a fully distributed setting, Speechify is building the next generation of reading accessibility tools. You will lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed. Your responsibilities include: • Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development: code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability. • Drive accessibility efforts by integrating and validating support for Windows accessibility APIs (Microsoft UI Automation), ensuring proper UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and usability for users with disabilities. • Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and the long-term Windows platform roadmap. • Own the full feature lifecycle: conception through design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance, ensuring quality and consistency across releases. • Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems with robust architectural solutions. Required qualifications: 3+ years of Windows desktop application development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML; deep understanding of Windows application architecture and managed/native code interop; proven track record shipping production-quality desktop applications; strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs; excellent software engineering fundamentals (OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading); experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, and conducting code reviews; strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; user-centric mindset. Preferred: automated UI testing experience, performance optimization expertise, localization/globalization experience, familiarity with telemetry and crash reporting, CI/CD and release pipeline knowledge, demonstrated ability to own feature areas long-term.
