In this role, you will lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed. You'll define and enforce best practices for Windows development across the codebase, covering code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability.
A key focus is accessibility: you'll integrate and validate support for Windows accessibility APIs (Microsoft UI Automation), ensure proper UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and usability for users with disabilities. You'll collaborate closely with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to shape feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and the Windows platform roadmap.
You'll own the full lifecycle of features—from conception through design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance—ensuring quality, reliability, and consistency. You'll identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems, proposing robust architectural solutions.
Required: 3+ years of Windows desktop application development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML; ideally with native Windows code experience (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM). You need deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed and native code. Proven track record shipping production-quality desktop applications with emphasis on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability. Strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs and dedication to inclusive software. Excellent software engineering fundamentals (OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading). Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions. Strong communication skills and user-centric mindset.
Preferred: automated UI testing experience, performance optimization for desktop apps, localization/globalization and right-to-left UI support, telemetry and crash reporting, CI/CD and release pipeline experience, demonstrated ownership of feature areas long-term.
