Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications. The role focuses on building high-quality, accessible text-to-speech reading products using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed. Key responsibilities include: - Lead design and architecture of Windows desktop applications, establishing best practices for code quality, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, and cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+) - Drive accessibility initiatives by integrating Microsoft UI Automation and other Windows accessibility frameworks, ensuring keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and usability for users with disabilities - Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders on feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and long-term Windows platform roadmap - Own the full feature lifecycle from conception through design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance - Diagnose and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems with robust architectural solutions Required qualifications: - 3+ years Windows desktop application development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and ideally native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM) - Deep understanding of Windows application architecture and interop between managed (.NET) and native code - Proven track record shipping production-quality desktop applications emphasizing reliability, performance, and maintainability - Strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs and commitment to inclusive software - Solid software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading - Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and architecture-level decisions - Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills - User-centric mindset focused on polished, intuitive experiences Preferred experience includes UI test automation, performance optimization, localization/internationalization, telemetry and analytics, CI/CD workflows for desktop apps, and long-term feature ownership.
