You will lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed. Your responsibilities include defining and enforcing best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase—covering code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability.
A key focus is driving accessibility efforts: integrating and validating support for accessibility APIs (Microsoft UI Automation), ensuring proper UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and usability for users with disabilities. You'll collaborate closely with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to shape feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and the long-term Windows platform roadmap.
You'll own the full lifecycle of features from conception through design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance, ensuring quality, reliability, and consistency. You'll identify, diagnose, and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems, proposing robust architectural solutions.
Required qualifications include 3+ years of Windows desktop application development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML (plus ideally native Windows code experience). You need deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed (.NET) and native code. You should have a proven track record shipping production-quality desktop applications emphasizing reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability. Strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs and dedication to inclusive software is essential. You'll need excellent software engineering fundamentals (OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading), experience leading technical design and mentoring engineers, and strong communication skills. A user-centric mindset focused on polished, intuitive, accessible experiences is critical.
Bonus qualifications include automated UI testing experience, performance optimization expertise, localization/globalization experience, familiarity with telemetry and crash reporting, CI/CD workflow knowledge, and demonstrated ability to own feature areas long-term.
