You will lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed. Your responsibilities include defining and enforcing best practices for Windows development across the codebase—covering code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability.
A key focus is driving accessibility: integrating and validating support for accessibility APIs (Microsoft UI Automation), ensuring proper UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and usability for users with disabilities. You'll collaborate closely with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to shape feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and the long-term Windows platform roadmap.
You'll own the full lifecycle of features from conception through design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance, ensuring quality and consistency across releases. You'll identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems, proposing robust architectural solutions.
Required qualifications include 3+ years of Windows desktop application development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML (plus ideally native Windows code experience). You need deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed (.NET) and native code. Proven track record shipping production-quality desktop applications with emphasis on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability. Strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs and dedication to inclusive software. Excellent software engineering fundamentals (OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading). Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and architecture-level decisions. Strong communication and user-centric mindset.
Bonus experience includes automated UI testing, performance optimization for desktop apps, localization/globalization, telemetry and analytics, CI/CD workflows for desktop applications, and long-term ownership of feature areas.
