In this role, you will lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed. You'll define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase, covering code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability.
Key responsibilities include driving accessibility efforts by integrating and validating support for Windows accessibility APIs (Microsoft UI Automation), ensuring proper UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader support. You'll collaborate closely with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to shape feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and the long-term Windows platform roadmap.
You'll own the full lifecycle of features from conception through design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance, ensuring quality and consistency across releases. You'll identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems, proposing robust architectural solutions.
Required qualifications include 3+ years of Windows desktop application development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML, plus ideally native Windows code experience (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM). You need deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed and native code, and a proven track record shipping production-quality desktop applications. Strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs and a dedication to inclusive software is essential. You should have excellent software engineering fundamentals, experience leading technical design and mentoring engineers, and strong cross-functional communication skills.
