Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications. With over 50 million users relying on Speechify's text-to-speech products, you'll take ownership of the Windows platform and shape its future.
In this role, you will:
- Lead design and architecture of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed
- Define and enforce best practices for Windows development: code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability
- Drive accessibility efforts by integrating and validating support for Windows accessibility APIs, ensuring UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader support
- Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap for the Windows platform
- Own the full lifecycle of features from conception through design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance
- Identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems with robust architectural solutions
Required qualifications:
- 3+ years of Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML
- Deep understanding of Windows application architecture and interop between managed (.NET) and native code
- Proven track record shipping production-quality desktop applications with emphasis on reliability, performance, and maintainability
- Strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs and commitment to building inclusive software
- Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading
- Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- User-centric mindset focused on polished, intuitive, accessible experiences
Preferred experience includes automated UI testing, performance optimization for desktop apps, localization/globalization, telemetry and analytics, CI/CD workflows for desktop applications, and demonstrated ability to own feature areas long-term.
