Shippo is building the shipping layer of the internet—a logistics technology platform that connects merchants to carriers worldwide through a single API and intuitive dashboard. The company operates as a remote-first, globally distributed team.
You will join the WebApp team as a Senior Software Engineer, working on intelligent web application capabilities with best-in-class user experience. The business is rapidly expanding with a growing and increasingly diverse customer base. You will collaborate with highly talented engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver features that meet customer demands while balancing technical quality with user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain full-stack web application features, including scalable distributed microservices
- Own complex features from technical design through production deployment, adhering to high-performance and reliability standards
- Develop technical strategy to enhance and support the core web application stack, ensuring performance and accuracy for high-throughput traffic
- Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot production incidents, and maintain high SLAs
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams (Product, Infrastructure, Design, API Partners) and set high engineering standards
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, container-based software distribution (Docker, Kubernetes), and observability
Requirements:
- Minimum 8+ years of software development experience
- Experience building and maintaining highly available, scalable web applications
- Proficiency in full-stack development languages and frameworks commonly used in distributed systems (e.g., React, Python, Go, Kafka, SQL, NoSQL)
- Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming, and design patterns
- Experience with AI-assisted development workflows
- Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders across different organizations
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- BSc in a STEM field, with preference for computer science and software engineering
