Salary: CAD 166,000 - 195,000 / annual
Robinhood is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect, build, and scale backend services, infrastructure, and data systems supporting next-generation crypto, web3, and wallet offerings. You will provide technical leadership to deliver a best-in-class trading experience for cryptocurrencies and tokenized assets, including perpetual futures, to customers worldwide. The role involves solving complex distributed systems and correctness challenges in an environment where systems move real customer assets continuously around the clock.
The Robinhood Wallet team democratizes access to financial services by leveraging DeFi protocols and Robinhood Chain, building non-custodial consumer products and seamless cross-chain trading capabilities. The Tokenization team brings public and private equity to be tradable 24/7 on decentralized exchanges across Robinhood Chain, building the connective tissue between traditional market infrastructure and on-chain systems for issuance, custody, and settlement. The Robinhood Chain team designs and scales the underlying decentralized infrastructure, continuously improving the platform for trading real-world assets and providing infrastructure services for other teams.
Key responsibilities include building scalable systems and components with appropriate tradeoffs for stability and maintainability, designing and releasing critical technical solutions with high engineering rigor, collaborating with multi-functional teams on large-scope projects, mentoring junior developers, and identifying opportunities to improve system performance and minimize risks.
This role is based in the Toronto office with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. Robinhood emphasizes the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of software development experience in fast-paced environments
- 3+ years experience writing low-latency, large-scale distributed systems for crypto domains
- Proficiency in Go or Python with exceptional technical grasp, problem-solving, and production debugging skills
- Strong ownership and experience building and operating high-scale distributed systems across the full software lifecycle
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within and across engineering teams
- Experience mentoring junior developers and leading teams technically on new initiatives and system improvements
