Snowflake is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Warehouse UX pod, a team responsible for critical warehouse capabilities spanning features, billing, and usability. Despite the UX pod name, this is a backend distributed systems role, not front-end. The team builds systems that power warehouse behavior, customer-facing capabilities, metering and billing functionality, and the reliability of core warehouse workflows. Warehouses are mission-critical to Snowflake's platform and a major revenue driver.
In this role, you will design, build, test, deploy, and operate backend software and distributed systems powering Snowflake Warehouses. You'll own medium-sized engineering projects independently from design through delivery, and contribute to larger cross-team initiatives. Responsibilities include building and evolving warehouse features, billing, and usability capabilities; improving reliability, scalability, performance, and operational health of production systems; and working across the full software lifecycle including technical design, implementation, testing, rollout, on-call participation, and production improvements.
You'll partner closely with engineers, product managers, and adjacent teams to deliver durable solutions. The role requires strong debugging and systems thinking to resolve complex production issues, and you'll raise the bar through design reviews, code reviews, operational rigor, and clear technical communication. The ideal candidate has 4-7 years of professional software engineering experience with strong programming, debugging, and software design skills in modern languages. You should have experience building and operating backend or distributed systems in production, the ability to independently execute medium-sized projects, and solid understanding of the software development lifecycle. Experience with on-call, production support, or incident response is expected. Preferred qualifications include experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, data platforms, large-scale backend services, billing/metering systems, and comfort with performance-sensitive production environments.
