Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Maritime Division and drive the development of Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) for next-generation autonomous underwater platforms. You will independently own the design and implementation of embedded, safety-critical software that powers autonomous maritime systems including Seabed Sentry, Dive-XL, Dive-LD, and Copperhead platforms. In this role, you will design and implement trusted, safety-critical vehicle management systems that balance complex constraints and requirements across multiple stakeholders. You'll architect scalable vehicle subsystems including sensor processing, state estimation, contingency management, actuation, payload interfaces, and mission system integration. Your work will span real-time embedded software development using RTOS, device driver development for sensors and actuators, and creation of comprehensive test and simulation fixtures with both software-and hardware-in-the-loop capabilities. You will contribute to the design and development of reusable software components across Anduril's product lines, support vehicle manufacturing and deployment operations, and mentor junior software engineers from diverse technical backgrounds. Expected travel is approximately 20% to co-locate with end-users and partner teams. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. You must be proficient in C, experienced with Real-Time Operating Systems, and familiar with communications protocols (CAN, CANFD, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, ARINC, MIL-STD standards). Strong systems programming skills in algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and optimization are essential. You must demonstrate capacity to act as technical owner for software components, including stakeholder engagement, requirements definition, roadmap management, and team coordination. Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance is required. Preferred qualifications include experience in autonomous vehicle software systems, high-assurance safety-critical software development, sensor and actuator interface development, troubleshooting remotely deployed systems, and familiarity with DO-178, IEC 61508, or similar certifications.
