Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming military capabilities through advanced autonomous systems and AI. The Maritime Division is building next-generation autonomous underwater vehicles and systems including Dive-XL, Dive-LD, Copperhead, and Seabed Sentry platforms.
As a Senior Software Engineer in Vehicle Management Systems, you will independently drive the delivery of embedded and safety-critical software for autonomous maritime platforms. You'll own major subsystem or system-level components and serve as a technical lead for rapid architecting, design, delivery, and evolution of next-generation autonomous platforms throughout their product lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement trusted, safety-critical Vehicle Management Systems balancing multi-stakeholder constraints and requirements
- Design scalable vehicle subsystems including sensor processing, state estimation, contingency management, actuation, payload interfaces, and mission system interfaces
- Develop real-time embedded software using RTOS
- Create device drivers and interfaces for sensors and actuators
- Build test and simulation fixtures with software-and hardware-in-the-loop capabilities
- Contribute to reusable software components across Anduril product lines
- Support vehicle manufacturing and deployment
- Mentor junior software engineers from diverse backgrounds
- Travel up to 20% to co-locate with end-users and teams
Required: Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent; proficiency in C; RTOS experience; familiarity with communication protocols (CAN, CANFD, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, ARINC, MIL-STD); systems programming skills; capacity to own software components end-to-end; mentoring ability; eligibility for U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred: Experience with autonomous vehicle software, high-assurance safety-critical applications, sensor/actuator interfaces, remote system troubleshooting, electrical/mechanical systems testing, DO-178/IEC 61508 certifications, navigation and communications systems.
