Salary: EUR 67,500 - 94,000 / annual
Algolia is a market leader in AI-powered search, processing over 30 billion search requests weekly for 18,000+ businesses including Stripe, Under Armour, and Walgreens. The Relevance Group focuses on advancing core search capabilities through pre-query understanding and post-query re-ranking, delivering features like Query Suggestions, Dynamic Synonym Suggestions, AI Re-Ranking, and Query Categorization.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Understanding team, you will be a key contributor to designing and developing ranking and understanding features that power search relevance at scale. You'll collaborate with a diverse team including front-end developers, machine learning specialists, and data engineers. Your responsibilities include architecting production pipelines, ensuring code quality and system soundness, and working with large datasets and high-traffic systems.
You should have proven experience designing and operating data pipelines in production environments, working with large-scale datasets, and building/maintaining API services. Strong fundamentals in code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices are essential. Experience with major cloud providers (GCP, AWS, Azure) and excellent English communication skills are required.
Nice-to-have skills include operating AI models in production, proficiency in Go or Python, Kubernetes experience, SQL-based data exploration, and sensitivity to end-user experience. The role offers a flexible workplace model with emphasis on impact and output over location, with options for hybrid or remote work depending on the role.
