Okta is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer – UI to join its Identity Platform engineering team in Bengaluru. You will own the design and delivery of complex, enterprise-grade frontend experiences that power Okta's identity lifecycle management capabilities, including admin configuration flows, wizard UIs, real-time progress tracking, and bulk operation workflows.
Key responsibilities include independently owning and delivering complex UI features end-to-end from design collaboration through production deployment. You will lead frontend architectural decisions, enforce code quality, accessibility, performance, and testability standards across the codebase. You'll build rich UIs backed by RESTful and GraphQL APIs, collaborating with backend engineers to define optimal API contracts. The role involves creating responsive experiences for long-running operations with real-time progress indicators, polling, and WebSocket-driven updates.
You will drive migration of legacy UI surfaces to modern component architectures and design systems, partner with Product Managers and UX Designers to shape feature strategy, and conduct thorough code reviews while mentoring junior and intermediate engineers on frontend best practices. Troubleshooting production UI issues, contributing to root cause analyses, and improving observability for client-side applications are also core responsibilities.
Required qualifications include 5+ years building production-grade enterprise web applications with deep hands-on experience in React, TypeScript, Redux (or equivalent state management), and modern JavaScript. Strong experience consuming RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs is essential, along with solid understanding of accessibility (WCAG), cross-browser compatibility, and frontend performance optimization. Experience with UI testing frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, or Jest is required, plus proven ability to partner with UX, Product, and backend engineers.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with micro-frontends, server-side rendering, design system integration, feature flag frameworks, and familiarity with Identity & Access Management concepts (SCIM, SAML, OAuth/OIDC) or enterprise admin tooling.
