Trumid is a leading fintech platform revolutionizing fixed-income trading. Founded in 2014, the company operates one of the top three corporate bond e-trading platforms in the U.S., serving 1,000+ buy- and sell-side institutions with over 1,300 active traders monthly.
In this Senior Software Engineer role, you will build and evolve the trading systems at the core of Trumid's platform. The team is currently migrating critical trading workflows onto an Aeron-based sequenced-log architecture, and you will join one of the teams running services on top of this new stack. Trumid is an AI-native engineering organization where the majority of pull requests are AI-written and AI-reviewed using in-house agent tooling, freeing engineers to focus on design, correctness, and leverage rather than boilerplate.
Key projects in your first six months include: shipping new trading protocol capabilities at high velocity on the Aeron-based platform to support growing client bases and trading volumes; evolving service architecture by migrating remaining workflows onto the new stack and designing messaging patterns; and improving platform scalability, performance, and test coverage for systems where correctness is critical.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, and testing protocols and features to meet functional and non-functional requirements; ensuring reliability and availability of services; optimizing system performance for low latency and high throughput; and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
You bring 7+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in capital markets or trading workflows. Required skills: proficiency in JVM-based languages (Scala preferred); distributed systems design and implementation; familiarity with network protocols and messaging (TCP/IP, FIX, Kafka, Aeron); hands-on Kubernetes and Docker experience; ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools effectively; understanding of low-latency, high-throughput systems; and strong SDLC and CI/CD practices. The tech stack includes Scala with ZIO, Pekko, and gRPC.
