Salary: USD 150,000 - 250,000 / annual
Aptos is a blockchain platform founded by original creators of Diem, focused on enabling universal access to decentralized financial assets safely and at scale. The company is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build critical trading infrastructure on the Aptos blockchain.
In this role, you will lead initiatives to design, build, and optimize backend services and platform infrastructure that directly power trading on Aptos. You'll develop scalable APIs, indexing services, and data pipelines to support trading data access, working on systems that will handle billions in volume. The infrastructure you build—including node infrastructure, SDKs, and developer tools—forms the foundation for trading products and ecosystem growth.
Key responsibilities include designing and optimizing backend services for the blockchain, developing high-performance APIs and indexing services, building and maintaining trading infrastructure, writing production-ready code, and collaborating with protocol engineers, infrastructure teams, and product engineers. You'll have significant autonomy and visibility, with potential to grow into leading other engineers as the team scales.
You bring 5+ years of experience building and shipping scalable backend systems in languages like Rust, Go, C++, Java, or Python. You have deep expertise in systems programming, distributed systems, databases, and API design. You're a strong problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced, autonomous environments. Experience with blockchain infrastructure, indexing, node operations, Web3, or payments/DeFi/TradFi is a plus. You're comfortable using AI tools to enhance productivity and code quality.
The role is based in Palo Alto, CA or New York, NY, with remote options available. Compensation includes competitive base salary ($150k–$250k range for Bay Area), protocol token grants, 100% insurance premium coverage, flexible vacation, 401k matching, and equipment of your choice.
