Robinhood's Tokenization team is building infrastructure to bring both public and private equity to be tradable 24/7 on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) across the Robinhood Chain. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and build the core backend systems that issue, custody, and settle tokenized equities on-chain while keeping them synchronized with traditional brokerage and ledger systems. You will own large, technically complex projects end-to-end—from design through implementation, rollout, and ongoing operation in a 24/7 production environment. Your work will bridge traditional market infrastructure (brokerage systems, ledgers, corporate actions) with on-chain systems, including smart contract integrations, chain indexers, and DEX trade flows. You'll partner with product, compliance, legal, and platform teams to translate regulatory constraints into workable system designs. Key responsibilities include designing and building backend services that mint, custody, and settle tokenized equities across leading blockchains with correctness and auditability as non-negotiable requirements. You'll raise the technical bar through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on mentorship of other engineers. You bring 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record of delivering large-scale distributed systems in production. You have deep expertise in backend development using Go, Python, or Java, and are familiar with cloud-native architecture (Kafka, Postgres, Kubernetes, or equivalents). You have strong instincts for correctness-critical systems—understanding idempotency, reconciliation, and failure modes when money is at stake. You've demonstrated ownership of ambiguous, cross-functional projects with good judgment on tradeoffs and driving alignment. You have experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction. Working knowledge of blockchain fundamentals (EVM, smart contracts, wallets, on-chain settlement) is expected, or a strong appetite to go deep quickly. This role is based in the Toronto, ON office with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.
