Robinhood's Tokenization team is building infrastructure to bring public and private equity to 24/7 trading on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) across the Robinhood Chain. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and build the core backend systems that issue, custody, and settle tokenized equities on-chain while maintaining sync with traditional brokerage and ledger systems.
You will own large, technically complex projects end-to-end—from design through implementation, rollout, and ongoing operation of 24/7 systems that move real customer assets across multiple blockchains and jurisdictions. Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and operate backend services for minting, custody, and settlement of tokenized equities across leading blockchains, with correctness and auditability as non-negotiable requirements
- Own large projects end-to-end, including design, implementation, rollout, and operating what you ship in production
- Build connective tissue between traditional market infrastructure (brokerage systems, ledgers, corporate actions) and on-chain systems, including smart contract integrations, chain indexers, and DEX trade flows
- Partner with product, compliance, legal, and platform teams to translate regulatory constraints into workable system designs
- Raise the technical bar through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on mentorship of other engineers
You bring 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record delivering large-scale distributed systems in production. You have deep expertise in backend development using Go, Python, or Java, and are familiar with cloud-native architecture (Kafka, Postgres, Kubernetes, or equivalents). You have strong instincts for correctness-critical systems—understanding idempotency, reconciliation, and failure modes when money is at stake. You've demonstrated ownership of ambiguous, cross-functional projects with good judgment on tradeoffs and driving alignment. You have experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction. Working knowledge of blockchain fundamentals (EVM, smart contracts, wallets, on-chain settlement) is valuable, or a strong appetite to go deep quickly.
The role is based in Menlo Park, Toronto, or New York, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. Robinhood emphasizes in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community.
